Often when we start businesses, we start them with the big picture in mind.

Whether our goal is to make money doing something we love, meet a need, or both, business owners decide to launch businesses based on a larger vision. While that vision and belief are what motivate us to improve our businesses and persevere when things get hard, the details can often leave us feeling discouraged. Have you ever wondered why? Below we’ll discover why we get so discouraged by details and how to move through the discouragement in a way that benefits ourselves and our businesses.

Highest & Best Use

Most of the time we get discouraged because of uncertainty or inefficiency. When we are discouraged, we do not have all of the answers, and our time is not being put to its highest and best use. We have a vision of what we want our business to look like, but the roadmap is hazy because we are trying to do EVERYTHING. Maybe our belief in our vision even waivers for a second. Why? Because we are trying to be excellent in every single aspect of our business without support. When I think about this concept, I often think of the quote that says, “When you try to be good at everything, you end up being good at nothing.”

What’s the good news? It does NOT have to be this way! Friend, you do NOT have to act as every role in your business or be all things to all people. The first step to moving away from this thinking? Getting a pulse check on your business’ systems and processes.

Pulse Check

Check-in with all of your systems and processes. Think social media, finances, marketing, operations, administration, sales, etc. Who is filling all of these specialized roles. (HINT: if the answer is you for every single role, that is why you are stuck in the weeds!) Once you identify where you are getting stuck, you are better able to tackle the problem and find a solution. You need to identify your pain points in order to get unstuck.

Finding the Right Resources

Now, you are aware of the pain points and you want to address them. But how?! Maybe you need a stronger sales funnel for your business or a better conversion system for sales. Identifying the problem is only beneficial so long as you are able to find a solid, reliable solution. That is why you need someone to help connect you with the right resources! Doing business alone will always leave you discouraged, frustrated, and lonely. Doing business with others feels fulfilling and purposeful!

If you are looking for a compassionate, non-judgmental space to process while finding vetted, reliable resources, reach out! You just might find more joy and purpose in your business.
