There comes a time at the beginning of each year when we are setting the pace for how we want the rest of the year to go. As the leader of your business, it is important to make sure you’re focusing on the right things. Let’s take a moment to pause, get your head out of the weeds, and think about your current day-to-day tasks and work routines.
If you’re focusing and putting the work on the wrong things, guess what? You are manifesting the wrong things
So, is the juice worth the squeeze? Are the things you are prioritizing right now the correct ones for you and your business? Call yourself out and ask yourself these five questions:
- Why am I so focused on this task?
- Are these tasks getting me closer to my goals?
- Do they help me build my life and business success?
- Do they bring me joy?
- Is this task productive, positive, and/or profitable now – or for the future?
Quite simply, is the juice (work that I’m doing) worth the squeeze (lead me to my business and life goals) right now or long term?
Without a strategic plan, a clear perspective of what you and your team should be doing, it is easy to fall into a routine of working 10 to 12 hours a day, marking items off a to-do list, convinced you are making progress. You are the business owner, the leader, the brain of your company, and your tasks should match accordingly.
The questions above work for your team members too. Every once in a while, you should make sure that every team member has been assigned to the tasks and projects that bring their abilities and skills out to your benefit. Be careful to assume that projects are progressing along and that objectives have been fulfilled, only to discover -too late- that something crucial has fallen through the gaps.
So pause for a moment and make sure you’re paying attention to the right things, the productive, positive, and profitable things for your life and business. Be sure that the juice is really worth the squeeze. Think about it, break the big projects down and visualize the road ahead, notice what you and your team are doing.
I’ll always be here to give you that little push and make sure that even with everything that you have on your plate right now as a busy business owner, you are checking on your priorities.
Is it worth focusing on them? If not, stop stressing over them and instead focus on the things that are useful, profitable, and beneficial. This will have a significant impact on the rest of your year.
Need any help with prioritizing tasks, strategic planning, and accountability? Schedule a call with me, and I will hold to that. I’ll ask the hard questions you may not be ready to ask yourself just yet.
Here’s what some of my clients have said about working with me.
“…I was in search of a coach I could trust and someone I could lean on for advice at a major inflection point in my life. I wanted someone I could confide in but also a strong sensible sounding board that would also cut to the chase and gives it to me straight. Annette fit that profile for me… She helped clear away the noise I was allowing to seeps in and to drown out what I knew I needed to do. She helped me focus and identify the steps to take to be that much closer to my goal. Basically, she gave me the kick I needed to start running down a new path.” -AL
“Annette has helped me to believe in myself, to recognize my self worth and to believe that I can attract the position to achieve my goals. She has pushed me outside of my comfort zone by holding me accountable, to trust and stick with the process. Annette begins the journey with self discovery; learning about myself gave me great insight about where I might need to go. She asks the probing questions and can facilitate conversations along the way; opening my eyes to different aspects beyond do I like something and getting to the why something feels right or wrong. Then applies the principles of my personality to each situation and breaks things down to to understand all aspects of why I think or feel the way I do about the situation. All the guidance may lead to a huge change for some, or a sense of understanding and tools to live in the present situation. My journey may end up in the same position in my career but with so much insight and appreciation for who I am as a person, it could be that my title was already perfect. I just needed to understand why and see the positives in a different direction. With Annette by my side, the journey is the focus. My focus. My journey.” -SS
