Social media algorithms can make you throw your hands up after trying to understand every update, every change, to then rethink your strategic approach. You need to stay on top of what they’re doing, caring the most for your organic reach as the algorithm continues to change. Today, I want to give you a strategy and tips on how to increase your presence online.
If you’re not doing what that platform needs, you’re not posting at the right times, not engaging and not being consistent in your message, there isn’t going to be a lot of momentum and people can just pass by your post. You end up talking to the same audience, showing up one week and disappearing for the next couple of weeks and sending mixed information to your audience. So, the next time you decide to show up, you end up being “punished” by the algorithm of such platform.
Is there a platform where you want to increase your visibility? How can you reach your specific audience, so that all the work that you put into your posts, gets more tracking.
Where do you want to be more visible?
What I want you to do is, write down three platforms where you want to improve your presence. Is it Instagram? Facebook? Linkedin? TikTok? Twitter? Do this exercise and find out where you need to be, where you are going to have more success and engagement according to your ideal client. Don’t write more than three, you don’t need to be on every social media that exists out there, your ideal client is not on every social media, so just focus on max three.
Let’s say it’s Linkedin because you haven’t been to in a while and you need to do more networking with that group of people. So write Linkedin, but what if it’s Instagram or Pinterest? Did you know that Pinterest is a great tool (not a social media platform) and the second best search engine where you can reach your audience! Take my advice and try it. Write the three that your ideal client should use more.
What strategies or tactics do you need to do?
Once you have your chosen three, I want you to write three strategies or tactics that you can do to show up differently for your audience, and three ways you can be of more value to them, following the algorithm rules of such social media.
For example, if you choose Instagram, you can write:
- Take more quality photos.
- Use better up to date hashtags related to my product or service.
- Step up your reels’ game, this is a relatively new feature and it’s what the algorithm is favoring right now.
- Show up more consistently on stories. They are more informal and easy to do, they make you present in your audience’s eyes.
- Try to do video content, instagram is an eye-catching app and videos autoplay in your audience’s feed so they’re more likely to stop and view it while scrolling.
- Write more interesting captions, try using specific calls to action, this is because the algorithm prioritizes engagement. Don’t be afraid to ask your audience to share or save your content.
- Post on your best times, those are the hours when your audience is scrolling through, the app can help you with this information, just look at insights.
